Tonight the SMP saga continues. Agenda here.
Tonight, the subcommittee will begin to consider heights along the first 200 feet of the shorelines. Beyond the first 200 feet is outside of the SMP jurisdiction where the regular zoning applies. If those two regulatory regimes conflict, the more restrictive applies.
As a reminder, the SMP subcommittee votes on recommendations to the full Olympia Planning Commission. When those in attendance agree on the recommendation, it’s essentially placed on a consent calendar that the full commission approves. When there is not consensus, the full commission votes on the divergent views to determine which are forwarded to the city council for ultimate adoption.
